Setup and configuration

Here's how you set up the Voyado Engage app in your Shopify store.

Installing

In the Shopify App Store, search for the Voyado Engage app. Select "Add app" to install it.

When the app is installed you'll be asked to connect it to your Voyado Engage account.

If you don't have a Voyado Engage account, write in your company name and company number and press Submit. You will then be instructed to wait until a Voyado representative gets in touch with you.

If you already have a Voyado Engage account, continue to the Setup below.

Setup

1. Account connection

The first step is to input the base-url and api-key, provided by your Voyado team. The app will then confirm that a connection can be made to Engage. If that is successful, you will continue to the next step.

2. Store and country mapping

Now you need to map countries to your stores. All end-users in Shopify (your customers) will have a country to which they “belong“, which depends on the store front or market they signed up with or placed their order from. This data will help you as a merchant to track where your customers sign up and place their orders.

A fallback function can be set for any countries not explicitly mapped here (meaning the rest of the world). You set it by choosing any country that is not already mapped, tick the Rest of the world fallback checkbox and click Save.

3. Customer identification method

Choose which identifier you want to use when looking up a customer in Voyado Engage.

4. Customer Contact Type

In this section, you’ll decide how to store account holders and guest customers.

By selecting the first option “Contact“ you allow both contact type Contact (Guest customers) and Member (Account holders). By selecting the second option “Member“ all customers will be given contact type Member.

5. Receipt sync stage

Here you select when an order will be stored as a receipt in Engage. This will either be at the order confirmation stage or when the order has actually been fulfilled.

Note

You can only use an order in a segmentation when it has been stored as a receipt.

6. Voyado email confirmations

Enabling this setting will trigger transactional communication through Engage, such as Order confirmation, Order fulfilment, Order cancelled and Order refunded.

Note: You need to set up your marketing automations and email templates in Engage before sending these notifications through the Engage platform. You also need to disable these emails being sent from Shopify to prevent sending out duplicates. You can do this under Settings / Voyado email confirmations for the app.

Caution

Disabling these emails is only available to Shopify Plus merchants. Transactional emails sent from Shopify cannot be disabled in regular Shopify accounts.

Caution

The "Order confirmation" Shopify transactional email cannot be disabled in Shopify Plus admin but only by the Shopify team themselves.

7. Voyado group currency

The currency you enter here needs to match the group currency set up in your Engage environment. Doing this will convert and store all monetary values within the order using the correct conversion rate.

8. Promotions & Loyalty App Block

Embed your Engage app block using your theme. By selecting “Customize theme”, you can embed the app block in all pages apart from the checkout page. The app block will be populated with loyalty data fetched from Engage when your customers identify themselves on-site.

Note: For this, the Shopify theme you're using needs to support app blocks.

9. Soft Identification Embed Block

If you want the app to identify the customers who have entered your site through an email sent out from Engage, you can enable this embed block by clicking on “View App Embed“ and enabling the “Soft ID Detect App Embed”.

Note: This will populate the app block with loyalty data upon identification.

10. Voyado Soft ID Decrypt Key

For the previous step to work, you need to input your encryption key provided by your Voyado team.

11. Loyalty area fallback content

In this section you can add fallback content to the app block if the customer has been identified through an email link but hasn’t signed in yet. This will allow you to prompt the customer to sign in, allowing them to use their personal discounts and redeem them in Engage.

Accessing settings

After your setup is done you can always access all the above configuration in Settings for the app in your Shopify store.
